Leading up to this wedding and last weekend, my anxiety was high. I think it’s safe to say, that being anxious is reasonable when documenting such important days with no redo. When it comes to a session, cake. Weddings I feel like the stakes are much higher and I have less control. But what i’ve come to realize is that my best work produced happens when I have less control. Approaching any wedding, my mindset is okay.. let’s document the day for what it is. Let’s document their story in the most truthful way. My intention when my brides look at their gallery is to feel like there is a beginning, middle, and end. I want the gallery to flow just like a story.
Back to Nate and Heather’s wedding. It was a day filled with wild weather and tons of emotion. The weather was so unpredictable with rain one second and full sun the next. We worked quickly when needed especially with impending rain following the ceremony, and took our time when we could. It was during this wedding that I was able to remind myself just how lucky I truly am. Being able to re-tell stories like Nate and Heather’s is why I love doing what I do.
